Important Camper Information Concerning Cell Phone Policy…   In recent years, we have had an onslaught of cell phone issues during camp. While it’s not our desire to eliminate the permission to access and use your cell phones, it is our goal to limit distractions and potential “drama” with them.   Effective this year during camp, cell phones will ONLY be permitted to be used IN the cabins. At no time will it be acceptable for a cell phone to be out of a cabin. Zero Tolerance. As we seek the example to be set by our staff, they will be granted some access due to the nature of camp communication. Also, Campers will have built in the daily schedule a few times “cell time”. This will be the ONLY opportunity for them to access and get on their cell phones. PARENTS— 3 take always to keep in mind as you process this… 1. Your camper(s) will have daily time to communicate with you should they need to do so, but it’s extremely limited and only at certain times in the cabin. 2. Of course, should you need to contact your camper due to an emergency, you can contact the camp director. The number will be posted here later and at the Registration counter at check in. We are also working on a way for each cabin counselor to communicate informatively with their campers parents via text throughout camp. Dojo, group text, etc… 3. Remember, this is a consistent, applicable remedy to a reoccurring conflict. We believe this will elevate unnecessary, and unwanted, issues. Help us present it that way to your child.   As of now, I’m not totally sure when the “cell time” will be in the schedule- however, it will look something like: 10 min. in morning, maybe during rest time after lunch, 10 minutes before bed. Of course, this is fluid. Remember, cell phone use at camp is a privilege, not a demand. Should there arise an issue with a camper and their cell phone, it will be collected at the office and returned only at the conclusion of camp.
